‘A beautiful and gentle violet, barely noticeable, yet so intensely vivid, had drenched everything around us…’ (the light and the ‘violet hour’ made for an interesting colour/form scheme combined with the castle roof (or walls, really)).

city oddities

The following are a series of photographs focused around time passing by, the timelessness of architecture and the oddity of reflections and road signs.

Magic Hidden in the City

A series of mystical black and white photographies of the magic folk. All the pictures were taken at the Bute Park stone circle. A magical filter was used in a couple of places (the ethereal plane is not that easy to capture on camera; it also only works on a film one, like the one I used ;D)
Anyway, enjoy…

City Characters

As a part of my photography work and research I did a series of photographs of different friends in different situations and places but all united as students from Howard Gardens (Cardiff School of Art & Design).

All are film photographs developed entirely by myself (proud of that). Special thanks to Carys Jones and Arthur Jarvis who were my photographic guinea pigs throughout the time I had the camera. :)

Urban Photography by Vivian Maier

Vivian Maier has been a great inspiration to me throughout this entire project. I decided to do film photography mainly because I wanted to try and put myself in her shoes (in a way) but who am I kidding, I doubt I’ll ever be as good as she was.

You can find out more about her and see more of her work on this site: http://www.vivianmaier.com/

And here are some of her photographs :)…
